Visitor's Center and Gift Shop
The Visitors Center and Gift Shop at the Staten Island Botanical Garden are housed
in one of the landmarked Second Empire Victorian cottages located on Cottage Row.
The Visitors Center, located within the Gift Shop provides an interesting and
historic entrance to the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden.
The Center has audio and video presentations to acquaint the visitor with
Chinese culture, as well as written materials that explain the meanings and
nuances behind Chinese Scholar’s Gardens.
The Staten Island Botanical Garden Gift Shop features a unique selection of jewelry, home and garden accessories, stationary, books, children’s items and materials relating to the Chinese Scholar’s Garden. For information and store hours at the Gift Shop call 718-362-1019.
Visitors may purchase entry tickets for the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden and the Connie Gretz Secret Garden at the Gift Shop. Walk in tours are given every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon -3 pm. For groups of 15 or more, reservations are required. The Garden offers a discounted rate for large groups. For group reservations please call the Gift Shop Tuesday - Sunday between 10 am and 3 pm.
The Staten Island Botanical Garden offers a unique setting for weddings, anniversaries, and other party occasions. The Carl Grillo Glass House, the White Garden, the New York Scholar’s Garden, and the Connie Gretz Secret Garden are a few of the gardens which make excellent photographic backdrops for any occasion.
